It'll take 4GB and show 4GB, but 3.3GB is all you can actually use. When buying a new Mac Mini, increasing the RAM to 16GB costs 200, 32GB costs 600, and 64GB an eye-watering 1,400. Thats never been close to as cheap as it is to make the same upgrade yourself. ![]() So if you have 667 MHz memory and mix them, all of it will run at 667 MHz. Despite the move back to DIY, if you want more RAM youre shouldnt be stuck paying what Apple wants to charge you for it. What ever the slowest memory is in the computer is what the Mac will run all the memory at. I need to fiddle with the RAM and see why I am not getting those speeds right now, as I had been earlier. I've seen speeds of up to to 2600 MB/s as well with 800 MHz RAM. I recently changed my RAM from 667 MHz to 800 MHz on my Mac Pro with the following results reported by NovaBench: Upgrading the RAM in all of these 20-Inch and 24-Inch iMac models is the same and quite simple, too. ![]() If the 667 MHz memory is what is currently in your computer, that is what will be reported, and it works just fine in the 2008 Mac Pro, however the Mac Pro supports 800 MHz and it will run faster in the event you decided to upgrade for memory read/writes (which can be a bottle neck and you should consider upgrading if speed is that important to you.) MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) Amazingly, can you upgrade 2008 iMac RAM Officially, the Mid-2007 and Early 2008 models support a maximum of 4 GB of RAM, but they actually can support 6 GB.
